What kid doesn’t like playing in the snow. Kids of all ages young and old love to grab a sled or a tube and go down the biggest hill they can find. Now let’s sit back and wait for that next big snowstorm.
Finding that perfect hill can be a little challenging. We asked people on Facebook and asked some friends where they thought the best places to go sledding in Dubois County were. Here are the top spots! These spots are in no particular order…

Finding that perfect hill can be a little challenging. We asked people on Facebook and asked some friends where they thought the best places to go sledding in Dubois County were. Here are the top spots! These spots are in no particular order…

St. Anthony…When asked where to go sledding in St. Anthony a friend said behind the church, on the hill by the cemetery and the lake hill. I’m guessing if you are from St. Anthony, you know exactly where this location is. So basically, go to the back of the church where the cemetery is, and you will find lots of kids and adults screaming as they make their way down the big hill. This place is long and wide which allows multiple people to sled at one time.
Huntingburg…on Facebook people mentioned Niehaus Park. Niehaus Park is also named (Standpipe Hill). Kids can enjoy sledding while also maybe playing a little disc golf. You can park in the parking lot where you would park to play disc golf or to walk the walking path.
Jasper…Buffalo Trace Golf Course across from the Jasper pooch playground is a great spot for a group of friends or family members to get together and see who can make it down the hill the fastest. Another location for sledding in Jasper is the Jaycee Park. This park is the one next to the Jasper pool. Just go right behind where the concession stand is for the pool, and you will find the hill. This location is also on 14th Street and Robert Street.
Ferdinand…18th Street Park is where all the fun happens in Ferdinand. The hill is massive. The only problem you will have is walking back up to the top! Another location in Ferdinand would be the New Town Lake. I saw a few kids sledding down the dam this year. I’m not sure if people still go here but I know back in the day kids use to also go to Chapel Hill by the Convent through the woods toward the graveyard. Not 100% on that spot but I heard it’s a really good hill!
Now please know all these places listed are free to use and visitors sled at their own risk.
