With the change of weather happening nothing sounds better than a big bowl of soup. Whether it is chili, chicken, tomato, potato, or any other soup you prefer Dubois County has a place for you to go.

We asked our Facebook followers who they thought had the best soups in town. These are in no particular order…

Midwest Café and Market

Midwest Café is a locally owned market that specializes in muffins and coffee for breakfast and salads during lunch. Now that doesn’t mean they don’t have delicious soup for those cold days. You never know what soup Midwest Café will have…it all depends on what their mom wants to make that day! You will find Southwest chowder, along with Chicken and rice, to just name a few!

I stopped at Midwest Cafe for lunch while driving from Atlanta to Indianapolis. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. A great find! Stop here if you have a chance.

Emerald Greens

Emerald Greens is a little different than other places that have soup. They are a food truck. You will find the food truck at the soccer fields in Jasper Wednesday-Friday from 10:00am-2:00pm. Emerald Greens has many different soups. I have heard from several different people the tomato bisque is a favorite of many. You can get soup and a scone combo for $5. Besides selling great soups Emerald Greens is also known for their salads (7 different kinds), cookies, and pastries. Make sure to check out the Facebook page for a menu of the day.

Grounded

Grounded has over 15 different soups they serve. 90% of the soups are homemade and made with clean ingredients. You can get them in an 8oz cup for $3.99 or 16oz for $5.99. During lunch they have what’s call “Power Hour” where you can call in orders for a quick grab and go. Follow Grounded on Facebook for weekly menu updates on what specials are for the week.

Grounded is more than just a restaurant. It is also a grocery store that specializes in natural food including all organic produce.

Seasonal veggies and organic options. Great place for coffee and don’t forget the panini & soup of the day!

Schnitzelbank

The Schnitzelbank  definitely knows a thing or two about making soup, because they have been making their homemade soups for 62 years! Each soup is made each morning in a large 10 and 15 gallon kettles.

There are always 2 soups offered daily Mon thru Saturday. There is a soup  assigned to each day and  the other is by staff choice. Talk about choices… They offer 33 varieties!

Beef Ribble is their most popular soup followed by Chicken Ribble.  These soups, with simple little dumplings, are quite unique and not often made at home.

One could say,  the Schnitzelbank provides soup security for the entire area, selling 100 gallons of soup each week!
