The Ferdinand Christkindlmarkt, celebrating its 25th Anniversary, is taking place this weekend in Ferdinand, Indiana! Visitors are invited to shop over 200 lavishly decorated booths spilling over with quality hand crafted items, Christmas wares, antiques, art, and delicious regional food and wine! - LIVE Glockenspiel performances take place in the auditorium of the Forest Park Jr. & Sr. High School on Saturday & Sunday at 11am, 12pm & 1pm.
2. Make plans to attend the FREE Sounds of the Season Concert on Saturday at 7pm at the Monastery Immaculate Conception. Members of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra & chorus will be performing seasonal and traditional Christmas songs to get you in the Christmas spirit. A freewill donation is appreciated.
3. The Monastery Immaculate Conception offers free tours of their beautiful domed church listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tours are available Saturday between 10:30am-11:30am and 12:30-3pm. Sunday tours are available between 12:30pm – 3pm.
4. Join 3rd generation of The Melchior Marionettes, Heidi, as she shares her beautifully hand-crafted marionettes. “Holiday Cabaret on Strings” performs in the auditorium of the Forest Park Jr. & Sr. High School on Saturday at 12:15pm, 1:30pm, & 3:30pm and Sunday at 11:30am and 1:30pm. Since 1952, the Melchior Marionettes have been performing throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia.
5. Kids Activities
One of Santa’s elves is visiting from the North pole with a reindeer from 11am-NOON on Saturday at the Ferdinand Library! Get close to pet & take a picture with one of Santa’s reindeer!
Visit with Santa at German American Bank on Main Street from 1-4pm on Saturday.Children of all ages are welcome to let Santa know what is on their Christmas list!
Workshops for kids will be available at the FPHS Jr. High gym location at the Usborne Books booth. Sat. at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm & 2:30pm. Sun. at 11:30am, 12:30pm, & 2:30pm.
Shuttle Service Available
For those focused on shopping, be sure to grab the Ferdinand News special edition including information on all the Markt sites with a map of the festival and highlights on the shuttles available to transport guests from one markt location to the next!! If you do purchase large items that don’t fit on the shuttle, always know the vendors are usually willing to keep your item until you can make it back later in the day to get your purchase
