Who doesn’t love a good pizza joint when on vacation? It seems to be a staple meal option to enjoy, especially for those Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari trips with kiddos in tow. While Dubois County is typically known for authentic German cuisine, there are a wide-variety of locally owned pizza joints featured on the “Za Pizza” trail from Indiana Foodways Alliance and also on the Indiana Culinary Trails Passport.
St. Benedicts Brew Works, located in Ferdinand, IN on the grounds of the Monastery Immaculate Conception has been open since 2015 and is known to be the only brewery in the U.S. located on the grounds of a women’s religious community. While craft beer is their passion, “St. Bens” as the locals call it, offers delicious “pies” for everyone to enjoy alongside their craft beer. The menu also offers wings, chicken tenders, and a variety of appetizers to pair with their uniquely named craft beers.

Excellent pizza,I am from Chicago and we know pizza. The pizza is so good that it was great the next day COLD. If I’m in the area again I’ll be there.

Yard Goat Artisan Ales, located on Historic 4th Street in Huntingburg, offers artisan pizzas to pair with their unique offerings of craft beer and seltzers on tap. Yard Goat has several unique pizzas, including the Dill Pickle Pizza, Nashville Hot and the most popular Pig Jamborie. Of course, one can also order a standard, build your own pizza. This is an absolute must for fantastic beer ales, pizza, service. Ordered the pretzel bits with flight of a total of 9different beers. All of them were really good. Some of them were the best I have had in a long time. (See pics below). The pizza loaded supreme had lots of toppings. Crust was cooked perfect. Staff supper friendly. We will definitely be back again.
Just down the street from Yard Goat is The Gaslight Pizza & Grill, a staple restaurant of Dubois County that has been around since 1972. Fun Fact: Prior to becoming a bar/restaurant, the building was the Victory Theater. The restaurant has a fun, unique vibe with a comic book theme. As far as the menu goes, be sure to check out the selection of non-traditional “pies” that tie back to the variety of sandwiches available on the menu with the “Johnny Dart” pizza being the most popular!

Jasper Pub n Grub, located a block off the Courthouse square in downtown Jasper, is widely known for their craft BBQ options, but don’t be fooled, the pizza selection is another popular menu item. During the weekdays, grab lunch at the Pub and enjoy the pizza buffet! The restaurant offers a great atmosphere with unique outdoor dining in the summer season on their covered patio.
Darn good pizza, they really hit this one out of the park. Very good fresh toppings the mushrooms were not rubbery they was fresh !! Very crispy crust and a well done undercarriage, no floppy pizza here. The sauce could have been just a little bit more Tangier with a good Italian sauce.
Super cleaning place ,nice atmosphere
