On the 1st Thursday of April, May, June, July, September & October make plans to visit the heart of downtown Jasper, Indiana to experience the Downtown Chowdown offering a variety of activities for all ages to enjoy. On the same evening, Jasper Community Arts is the host of the First Thursday event offering a reception for the new galleries open at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center.

June 1st, enjoy a variety of options for dinner from one (or a few) of the 13 food trucks in attendance. Food trucks are set up in the parking lot of the Riverwalk (at the end of 4th Street) Live music will be played by Jed Guillaume at the Dave Buehler Plaza and yard games and activities will be available to enjoy! To kick off summer & the love of the Bombers Baseball games in Dubois County, kids are encouraged to wear their favorite jersey. A highlight for the evening will be the Bombers tickets give away! Spirit of Jasper Trian tickets will also be available to purchase at the Downtown Chowdown.

After or before you grab dinner, stop by the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center to view the newest exhibit, the Dubois County Art Guild, one of the popular annual exhibits featuring local artists with a variety of mediums on display.  The event is from 5-7pm and is free and open to the public.

Other exhibits on display include Wendy Calman’s installation exhibit titled “Ties” and Judi Krew’s exhibit titled ‘Hoard Courture: Where Art Meets Fashion’. “Ties” is a mixed media kinetic construction incorporating sound and active viewer participation, presenting an environment that is entered into by visitors, as if guests to an outdoor shrine. Krew’s exhibit features over thirty wearable pieces of artwork using clothing design to creatively display a collection of items. The artists states, “I embrace the mantra of reuse, repurpose, reconsider and reimagine to guide the overall concept of each piece.”

In between these stops, maybe you decide to book an escape room for you and your friends to enjoy at Puzzles & Padlocks Escape Room also located on 4th Street or stop by the Jasper Public Library, also located inside the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center to check out all the fun activities available this summer for your family to enjoy.
