Kids Art Kreations-Learn to Draw Mothman in Peg

Sat, Oct 25, 2025, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
Traditional Arts Today, 314 W. 9th Street, Ferdinand, IN

Join artist Shelbi Pierce to bring the mysterious West Virginia cryptid, Mothman, to life on toned paper! Inspired by Shelbi’s ABCs of Beasties book, this workshop combines folklore and art for a fun, hands-on experience.

You’ll start by sketching Mothman in pencil using simplified shapes, then learn inking techniques to give your drawing depth and character. Along the way, you’ll explore how different pens behave—and when to use each—while experimenting with white gel pens to create glowing highlights.

Each student will leave with a finished pen illustration of Mothman in the moonlight, plus a helpful pen comparison handout to guide future art supply choices.

This class is FREE thanks to a grant from the Menke Charitable Foundation.

Activities are made possible in part by the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana, the Indiana Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

We value inclusion and access for all participants. This class is wheelchair accessible and we are pleased to provide additional reasonable accommodations.
