Geode Grotto

Fr. Ottavi, an Italian immigrant who was inspired by religious grottoes in Europe, intended to imitate the famous grotto at Lourdes. The grotto was built using geodes which are soft rocks with crystal-filled centers. The grotto was constructed over ten years and features two major shrines featuring white Carrara marble statues imported from Italy.
