• This April 10-12 in Ferdinand State Forest, history comes alive with the Revolutionary Rendezvous, a special event honoring America’s 250th birthday with immersive Revolutionary War-era experiences, this gathering brings reenactors, period camps, demonstrations, and historic trades to the forests of southern Indiana for a weekend of hands-on history.

Thursday, July 2 – Downtown Chowdown Patriotic Park Party
•Enjoy food trucks, live music & more at Jaycee Park in Jasper for Heart of Jasper’s Downtown Chowdown event before enjoying a pool party at the Jasper City Pool. The night will end with a drone show to begin at 10:15pm, sponsored by the Jasper Strassenfest Committee.

Saturday, July 4 – Thunder Over Patoka
• Thousands of people will head to Patoka Lake to watch the huge fire rockets shoot into the sky over the clear water. Whether near the Patoka beach area, on a boat, or at one of the close-by ramps, the show will be a sight to see featuring premium, professional fireworks.

July 30 – August 2 – Jasper Strassenfest
• The 48th Annual Jasper Strassenfest (July 30 – August 2, 2026) in downtown Jasper, Indiana, will feature the theme “Threads of History, Patterns of Progress,” celebrating America’s 250th birthday. This theme highlights the community’s German heritage and its connection to national history, featuring the DAR as Hofmarschall.

The Ferdinand Library, 112 East 16th Street in Ferdinand, opens an interactive display in commeration of America’s 250th Anniversary. The Ferdinand Geneology Room is stocked with Indiana & County history books and reference materials.
For America’s 250th, there is an interactive display. It is filled with activity booklets and fun coloring sheets, alongside small make and take crafts. Take a memento including small flags, pins, stickers, slap bracelets, and more.
Visit the display during Ferdiannd Library open hours, typically Mon-Fri: 9 am – 8 pm ET, Sat: 9 am – 2 pm ET.
