Garden Gate Preview
The annual Garden Gate Jazz, Art, Wine, and Craft Beer Festival happens this weekend on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Guest blogger and festival committee member Jim McFaul gives a preview of the sounds you can expect to hear as festivities get underway in historic downtown Huntingburg, Indiana.
The Garden Gate Festival provides a unique opportunity for the residents in the tri-state to enjoy an afternoon of Jazz, arts, wine, and craft beer. It is one of the few festivals in the region that has this variety of activity in an open-air venue at an affordable price.
Over the past 5 years we have seen the event grow to include several more bands and with the recent addition of an art market, we have found the event to be appealing to a variety of people.
Having the focus on Jazz allows people not familiar with this music to hear different forms of Jazz. This year’s bands include both upcoming Jazz musicians and veteran performers.
· The All Star High School Band will include musicians from a variety of schools and Cabin Fever features college students.
· After Hours from Evansville and Hot Jive Stew from Louisville features popular jazz musicians who perform in venues throughout the Midwest.
· The Wade Baker Quintet features Jasper native Wade Baker who is accompanied by jazz vocalist Jamie Taylor. Baker’s group is made up of musicians from the region and have performed in clubs and festivals throughout the East and Midwest.
