The Huntingburg First Church of the Nazarene was organized July 27, 1941 from a tent meeting revival with Evangelist Reverend Roy Betcher and Song Evangelist Doug Slack. Reverend Jesse Towns was the presiding District Superinttendent and Reverend Harold Small became the first pastor with 15 charter members.
The church remains in its original location, at the corner of Third and Jackson Streets. The old garage building has undergone 3 major renovations and 3 additions. The pasonage was built in 1949 and is located next to the church.
Over the years, 17 pastors have blessed the church with their ministry. Each one has made a definate contribution to the life of the church and the community. Our current pastor, Reverend William Covey, has been with us since August 1989.
