The congregation of St. Paul’s formed in 1840 and was the first Evangelical church in Southern Indiana. In 1869, members built the present church. The bricks used to construct the building were made of the Hilgeman farm located a half of a mile from the site. Until 1934, the church had an “Uttershild,” a divider between the pews, separated the men and women. The original bell that called people to worship in 1869, still calls people to worship today.
