A 2 day tour of Dubois County full of engines, antiques, manufacturing and more!
Your tour begins with a visit to the Dubois County Museum, featuring exhibits throughout the 47,000 sq. ft. display area. This one-of-a kind museum offers unique displays on the German heritage and culture in and around Dubois County, the history of the successful national and international manufacturing companies located in the area, a large exhibit of antique farm machinery, a Main Street Dubois County exhibit and much more. Next, visit Ridetech to see how air suspensions are designed, assembled and implemented for a multitude of hot rod vehicles. Other component parts are also manufactured to aid in the renovation of hot rods. The tour culminates in the “toy barn” where multiple antique, renovated vehicles are on display. Enjoy lunch at the Mill House. Built in 1947, the menu features a variety of unique entrees including barbeque specials, steak, & chicken. Recently added to the restaurant is The Basket Case Brewery, offering a unique blend of craft beers. After lunch, take an educational tour of the nation’s largest remanufacturer of engines, Jasper Engines & Transmissions. Learn first-hand the process of remanufacturing engines including gas and diesel engines, transmissions, marine engines, electric motors, and many others. (Note: Closed-toe shoes must be worn for this tour.) After an eventful day relax at the hotel for a few hours before dinner. For dinner, enjoy an authentic German meal at Southern Indiana’s premier German Restaurant, The Schnitzelbank.
Start the day with a tour of beautiful Patoka Lake, Indiana’s second largest reservoir. Enjoy a scenic cruise aboard the Patoka Voyager to learn about the interesting history of the lake as you look for signs of the abundant wildlife including Bald Eagles and Osprey which may even be sitting on their nests. After a morning on the lake, head up to French Lick to lay your odds at the French Lick Resort & Casino. Enjoy lunch on your own and explore the historic Resort until it is time to head home.
