The Dubois County Museum will host A Dramatic Portrayal of the Life of St. Mother Theodore Guerin at the museum on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at 3:00 pm...
Also opening on October 1 is a new permanent exhibit at the museum entitled “Our Eldest Daughter” to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the Founding of St Joseph School in Jasper.
St. Joseph School was the first mission school established by Mother Theodore Guerin and she always had a special place in her heart for it and referred to it as “Our Eldest Daughter”. The museum will open at 1:00 pm on October 1. Come early to view the new exhibit and to secure a seat for the program.
The ‘In Her Own Words’ is based on the journals and letters of Indiana’s first saint, Mother Theodore Guerin, foundress of the Sisters of Providence, at Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods near Terre Haute, IN. Sandra Hartlieb brings the Saint to life, centering this historical portrayal of Mother Theodore on her strength, humor, pioneering hardships, determined spirit, and a profound trust in Providence. Following a performance at the Woods, Sr. Jeanne Knoerle, SP (former President of the College) commented, "Sandra has a way of bringing out small bits of Mother Theodore’s character and details about her interactions with others that made her live in three wonderful dimensions." The performance also includes interludes of music and creative movement, featuring Nora Pritchett of Sisterhood Drama Ministry.
Sandra Hartlieb has been acting, directing and writing for over 30 years. She has a BA in Communication and Theatre from Indiana University, and Certificates in Lay Ministry and Scripture studies from Notre Dame. She has performed in community theatre and is a founding member of Sisterhood Drama Ministry, which offers performances and workshops throughout Indiana and Kentucky.
